We were THEN, We aren’t NOW
November 23, 2005
Kristopher Louie
I knoweth now
my first mistake.
Can you recall the time
when we filled the city
with our love?
Not because we wanted it to be filled
but because no one else had filled it.
I knoweth now
my first mistake.
We were sitting on the bus
giving no attention around us.
I smiled,
I laughed,
I even kissed you.
My eyes had closed,
for just a second,
and opened again when we got off.
I had fallen asleep, “You shouldn’t have let me.
It was you that needed ‘it’ more than me.”
I told you this and watched you laugh.
You hugged me,
You kissed me,
You even said ‘I Love You’
I knoweth now
my first mistake.
There was a rush of joy, something new
something I had never knew.
We had walked this city
unintentionally making memories
until we ended at our home.
The sun had faded, “The only thing I want
is to kiss you good night and then hold you.”
You said to me and watched me blush.
You embraced me,
I looked at you,
You took me down.
Our jeans fell down, our shirts on top.
The puzzle near-finished was complete.
I laid below,
You hovered above,
I kissed,
You carressed,
I moaned,
You groaned.
I touched,
You pushed,
I licked,
You shuddered,
I took,
You gasped.
I knoweth now
my first mistake.
The night was young and so were we,
our innocence- fading.
I laid below,
you hovered above,
You said,
I did,
You looked,
I nodded.
You pushed,
I winced,
You stopped,
I pushed,
You grasped,
I gasped.
The sun had risen, lighting up the city
giving a glow to our love.
I knoweth now
my first mistake.
